So, who is Random Hajile? Is he a legend? Is he beautiful?
Or should he just get off the stage? Well, we asked him a few
questions which should shed some light on this guy.
Real name: Brian.
Age: 22
How long
have you been playing?
"I've been going at it for over 2 years now.
I keep saying I'm getting too old to do it, but who cares? I'm
still having fun!"
How much
do you spend on Bemani in an average week?
"Managed to control my spending now. Usually
no more than £10 to £15 per week."
Ever injured
yourself on a game?
"Many times. Twisted knee, bruised limbs and
winded myself when I landed on the backrest after a Matrix Walk
(and broke a rib another time). After the world record, I couldn't
walk for nearly 3 days! Everything had siezed up!"
What's your
favourite Bemani game?
"PARA PARA PARADISE! It possibly the only
machine where I can do everything with my back to the screen.
Well, I am a paralist and do teach it as well. ;-)"
Are there
any Bemani games you haven't played yet?
"At
the moment, only 4th Mix, DDR MAX and MAX 2. I also haven't
played BetMania 2nd or any of the IIDX systems. No Guitar Freaks
past 1st Mix. There are some non-Bemani I haven't played. Some
of the PIU series, Samba De Amigo, Pop 'n' Music, Rock 'n' Tread,
EZ2DJ etc... "
Ok. So how
good are you?
"Good
enough for me. If someone else likes it, then that's even better.
I'm a Perfect Attack player mainly, but I have started freestyling
on 3DDX. Some of the off-the-cuff stuf I do amazes me and usually
gets a good reaction."
What was
your greatest acheivement on a Bemani game?
"Getting
an A on MAX300 on EuroMIX 2 without holding onto the back bar."
What's the
fanciest step you've ever done while freestyling on DDR?
"Still the 'Matrix Walk'. I haven't done anything fancier
since I broke a rib. Now I just bung together a few moves on
3DDX."
Finally,
any tips to give beginners?
"Yup.
If your going to play, don't get addicted. Sound easy? Like
hell it is! Bemani is like a pack of Pringles, except: Once
you bop, you can't stop! I thought the world record would put
me off, but it's only rekindled my desire to freestyle. Just
be careful as to how much you spend to how much you can afford!
Also, just do what you can. Don't let anyone tell you you're
crap, as long as you try your best, that all that counts."
