DID MAN LAND ON THE MOON?
The above question seems rather silly to ask - for those of us who lived during that time we have our memories; for the generation who were not alive when it happened, there are a multitude of photographs, films, books and other media that outline what happened.
Sadly, this has not stopped unscrupulous money spinners from claiming that the Moon landings were a hoax and humankind never got to the Moon at all - it was all faked in sound studio's in Hollywood (or Area 51 - they cannot agree amongst themselves).
The evidence for the moon landings to have occurred is pretty overwhelming. If indeed it was a hoax it would have required the participation of at least 1/2 million employees amongst contractors and the government in the USA; it would have required the collusion of the Soviet Union (who were not exactly friendly towards the US during this period of the cold war) and other countries. As yet, not one person has come forward and said that they partook in the hoax.
Evidence against the moon landings having taken place is flimsy - for example, an argument questioning the moon landings appeared in the March 2002 issue of UFO Magazine, under the heading - 'Bring This 'Myth' to An End Once And For All'.
The old chestnut about why stars were not visible in the Apollo photographs appears. Apart from the fact the Apollo missions were geoligical field trips and not astronomical observing sessions, the reasoned argument that bright sunlight was too strong for the stars to be photographed is brushed aside by the following statement by the author: "The fact is that it would only take a minor adjustment to rid reflective sunlight...." . Sadly this 'expert' does not divulge the minor adjustment required, it is written to lend authority to what is said. If you are a doubter do the following experiment.
Go into an open-air car park after night fall - a car park that is brightly illuminated by artificial lighting, and one that has tarmac as its base; make sure it is a clear night and the stars are visible; taking with you a 35mm camera - preferably one that allows you to adjust the lens settings. Now try and photograph the car park (try and avoid courting couples who might be there and may misunderstand your motives for being there with a camera). Take as many photographs as you can - adjusting the f number and exposure times - no time exposures - the astronauts never did them! Look at the results after they have been developed - you might find them interesting.
The above mentioned article then goes on to mention the Apollo 11 astronauts at their post-flight press conference and the way they appeared. The article says: "But to look at them, you would think there had been a death in the family. Instead of smiles and chests bursting outwardly with pride, each man sits stoney-faced, staring blankly with eyes rarely shifting from the floor, as if coming to terms with a life sentence for having committed some dreadful crime. It is almost surreal".

Are these the faces of guilty men who are helping to hoodwink the world, or are they faces of tired men? Just looking a bit sombre is not a reason to believe that they are guilty of not going to the Moon. |
Their down-hearted demenour could equally be the result of them being tired and being a bit pissed off by yet ANOTHER news conference; they might be missing quality time with their families, after all they had been separated from them for quite a long time (the astronauts were held in isolation for several weeks after returning to Earth just in case they carried any microbes back from the Moon); they could be a bit guilty about the girls that were supplied to them by the White House, at the hotel last night! Of course I can only speculate, which is exactly what the author of this article did.
I can remember the look of happiness and pride on the face of the astronauts after splashdown when they were by the window of their isolation unit onboard the US aircraft carrier that had recovered them after splashdown. I can remember the pride and flag waving during the New York ticker-tape parade.
Such are the puny arguments; the flimsy of flimsiest evidence that the astronauts LOOK at a press conference is now taken as persuasive argument that there was something not quite right about the moon landings.
The unknown author then proceeds to chastise the NASA space agency for not releasing photographs of the lunar landings sites photographed by the high resolution camera's of the Clementine and Galileo probes that flew past and photographed the moon - these, say the author will bury once and for all the moon landing argument. If NASA did release pictures, what would they REALLY prove?
For one thing, it would prove that the camera's - high resolution and powerful though they maybe will not necessarily reveal the bases of the lunar module or the moon cars used by the last three moon missions. And if they did show the detritus of the moon landings what would these conspiracy theorists claim? Why of course, the pictures are FAKES - and they will write more books and produce videos to back up their claim -
There is no 'Myth' about the lunar landings - they really took place; why decry a fantastic achievement like that? Some people believe that it was technically impossible for it to have occurred. There are those who believe the ancient Egyptians were not clever enough or bright enough to build the pyramids and they could only have achieved it with the aid of 'anti-gravity' devices lent to them by aliens. This is an insult to the intelligence of our ancestors. To say the moon landings never took place is an insult to all those who took part in the space programme - an insult also to those who watched the events unfold and an insult to those brave men who died in the process.
There are still those who believe the moon landings were faked; but then again, there are still some people who believe the world is flat.

If the Apollo astronauts never got to the moon and it was a giant hoax, what about the UFO writers who claim the astronauts saw UFO's and evidence of alien presence on the moon. What about the 'proof' they have?
Come on chaps; you cannot have it both ways can you?
