Welcome to Cardiff University Rambling & Hiking Club

Cardiff is a great city surrounded by dramatic countryside just waiting to be explored, with challenging mountains and interesting historical valleys. So if you want to get fit while seeing the scenery of Wales and many places further afield, also meeting many great people from all over the world, come with us on one of our walks.

The club is regarded as one of the most friendly in Cardiff, older members welcoming new members and many long standing traditions continued, such as:

  • The Christmas Weekend Away, which always includes a huge Christmas dinner.
  • The Annual Summer Expedition. Previous destinations have included Ireland, the Auvergne, the Spanish Pyrenees, the Black Forest and the Czech Republic.
  • Weekend Trips each term.
During term time the club organises walks every Saturday and Sunday. Night hikes are also planned occasionally.

The Rambling & Hiking Club is a highly active, friendly, sociable club catering for all types of walker. All walks are lead by experienced leaders with safety the primary consideration. Membership costs £10, plus £5 to the Athletic Union to cover insurance. More information on how to join
