Richard was sorted into Gryffindor House. In his second year, he tried out for, and got on, the house Quidditch team, as a beater. In addition to doing well at Quidditch, he did very well in his studies, particularly Charms and Transfiguration - his two best subjects. In his 5th year, he was made prefect of Gryffindor house, much to the pride of his parents. He graduated from Hogwarts with high honours. However, academics and sports were not all of Richard's life at Hogwarts. A likeable young man, Richard had many friends and companions. In addition, he was a bit of a prankster. Nothing harmful, and never in front of teachers, but he did pull the occasional practical joke much to the amusement of many. All things aside, Richard was well liked, both by most students (though he didn't particularly take to the Slytherin students - he found them to be a rather slimy bunch in general, though some of them were okay) and the Faculty. |

Physical appearance: Richard Harper is 6' tall. He is broad shouldered and has a big build.
While not fat, he is solid, though it is mainly muscle. He has blonde hair
and hazel eyes, and wears oval glasses with dark blue frames. He tends
to wear dark blue wizarding robes with a little white trim when in the
wizarding world. When around Muggles he dresses to suit the occasion,
though usually casual clothing is what he finds to be most comfortable.
Family: Parents Donald and Lila Harper, both of whom are Muggles. Donald is a Newspaper editor and Lila a seamstress. Background: Richard was born to Donald and Lila Harper, both of whom are Muggles. Donald is a Newspaper editor and Lila a seamstress. They both loved their son a great deal, and were very proud of him. He did well in school, both in academics and sports. He was kind, gentle, well mannered and likeable. He was everything they could hope for in a son. However, there was always something a little strange about Richard... Strange occurrences followed him. It seemed that everywhere he went, strange things would happen, especially if he were frightened or nervous. Just prior to his 11th birthday, Lila and Donald had taken him to the circus. They had gotten a little turned around, and at one point found themselves in the shadows behind the big top, where the caged animals were kept. They were walking past the cages in the darkness of the shadows when young Richard had tripped over a rope on the ground and fallen towards one of the cages. He caught himself before he hit the cage, but that did not stop the lion in the cage from roaring and snarling loudly. Richard, looking up at the cage, was face to fang with the large roaring cat for a moment. The extremely startled boy leapt back from the cage in fright, and, for an instant, the lion seemed to vanish, replaced by a small kitten. The kitten mewed quietly, just once, and then became a lion again. All this happened in an instant, and so his parents simply believed it to have been an illusion of some sort, some trick of their minds caused by concern for their son. However, shortly thereafter, when Richard turned 11, they came to understand the truth of the matter. On his 11th Birthday, Richard received a letter, written on parchment and delivered by an owl, from Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. It was then that they came to understand the strange events that had followed Richard throughout his life. His parents, as with everything Richard had done, were very proud of his acceptance to Hogwarts, and supported him fully. They continued to support him all through his time at Hogwarts, his time on the Gryffindor House Quidditch Team, etc. His parents are still alive, and he visits them as often as possible. He still has an excellent relationship with his parents. Occupation: Richard has spent the 7 years since graduating Hogwarts working in the Ministry of Magic, and has served in numerous departments, including Magical Games and Sports, International Magic Co-operation, and is currently in the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts department. Motivations/Ambitions: Richard has a kind and generous nature. He likes to help people, and would like to be able to give something back to the Wizarding world. For those reasons, his ultimate goal is to try and become a teacher at Hogwarts. He's been unsuccessful thus far, but he's still hopeful, and will continue to apply. Likes/Dislikes/Interests: Richard loves to read and has a great interest in all subjects, both Muggle and Magical. He's also a big fan of sports and physical activity, once again, both Muggle and Magical. A former Gryffindor Quidditch Team Beater, he's kept involved in the game. He's also participated in several Muggle sports, and even looked into Martial arts for a time, believing that its a good idea to be able to protect oneself without magic. He also likes animals, children, the outdoors, and flying - as an eagle or on a broomstick. His favorite color is blue. Richard dislikes ignorance in any form - like racism, etc. He detests spiders - not really afraid of them, just doesn't like them. He also tends to have an aversion to shellfish. Other than that, he's pretty easy going. Richard has an avid interest in most types of magic, but his true talents and greatest interest lies in transfiguration and charms. He also has some interest in, oddly enough, clothing and fashion trends - a result of spending a great deal of time with his mother. Its not really an active interest - more of just something he tends to take note of, like what styles and colors are popular at the time, etc. As a result, he tends to be well dressed. He also has some interest in cooking, and is quite good at it, in general. Other than that, he is interested in travel, seeing new places and meeting new people. |
