Magical Abilities: |
Sarafina is an Expert in Potions and Herbology; she is Average to Weak in all other areas, especially Dueling and any other offensive spellcasting. Her weaknesses have more to do with lack of interest than any deficiency in abilities, though some have implied in the past that is has something to do with being less than pureblood. |

Physical appearance:
Sarafina is exceptionally petite -- a shade under 5' tall and 100lbs -- with a
wiry, athletic build. Her chin-length hair is a bright, curly red. It is
usually flying wild with a lock across her eyes, which are a penetrating
grass-green. These features stand out distinctly from her pale, freckled
complexion, and while not classically beautiful, the entire configuration is
comely in a girl-next-door kind of way.
It is clear to anyone with eyes that Sarafina cares little about fashion, choosing her clothing for function and comfort rather than to make any kind of statement; the only exception to this is her Quidditch uniforms and other team-related garb, to which she is quite attached. Otherwise, she has no marked preference for wizard robes over muggle-wear, having spent time in both worlds. A point of note: Sarafina's fingernails are permanently black, the result of an unfortunate time when the members of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team tried to make their hands look more like… well… raven claws. The spell went awry and, at the time, none of the group had the courage to approach the staff at Hogwarts for help. Eventually they began to view their mishap as a badge of pride, and to date only one individual has sought additional intervention.
Family: Sarafina is the seventh child of Padraic O'Neill (a Muggle) and Lily Capstone-O'Neill (a Witch). Her six older brothers -- Connor, James, Reginald, Seamus, Roald and Liam -- are amiable boys much like their father, and to date have shown no ability or inclination to use magic. The older boys have families of their own and work at a variety of jobs in and around London. Roald and Seamus help their father run the family's Irish pub, which is located a mere two blocks from the Leaky Cauldron. Sarafina's mother owns and operates of the better-respected potion stores on Diagon Alley. She sells mundane and exotic ingredients and creates custom-made concoctions for members of the magical community.Unlike many 'mixed' marriages, Sarafina's parents are very happy; Padraic has no magic of his own, but his Irish upbringing was full of stories of the fairy folk that he has now come to accept as reality rather than fable. The boys are also proud of their baby sister, even if they don't quite understand her.
Background: The sorting hat quickly placed Sarafina into Ravenclaw, though she's not sure what happened to her 'wit and learning'. Time in her mother's shop had given her a great deal of experience with herbs and potions, so she found those classes quite easy. She also immediately took to a broom as if it were a part of her own body. From then on she was infected with the Quidditch madness that affects so many young wizards and witches. Her studies suffered a bit by contrast, but her parents never pushed her to be more than she wanted to be. During her last four years at school she was the Ravenclaw Seeker, and she was never happier than when she was going a hundred miles per hour a couple hundred feet in the air chasing a little gold ball. She was quite popular in Ravenclaw, due to her straightforward personality and love of play. She also made many close friends, with whom she keeps in touch. After leaving Hogwarts, Sarafina was recruited by the Kerry Kestrels. She is the second-string seeker, something she finds somewhat frustrating, since standing on the sidelines isn't her style. Still, she has enough sense to realize that she has to pay her dues before she advances, and she throws everything she has into every opportunity she is given. In between games, she works in her mother's store or her father's pub. This kind of work suits her well, as Sarafina is outgoing and friendly, with an engaging personality and a somewhat bawdy sense of humor. Her father claims she has the gift of blarney along with the gift of magic. Occupation: Professional Quidditch Player (Seeker) for the Kerry Kestrels and Part-Time Shop Assistant / Barmaid Motivations/Ambitions: Right now, all Sarafina wants is to play Quidditch and to be good at it. The fame is only a small part of her desire; she plays the game for the rush it gives her inside. She assumes that she will eventually take over her mother's store, which suits her well enough, so it hasn't occurred to her to make any other plans. Likes/Dislikes/Interests: Sarafina is more familiar with the Muggle world than many others, and she dislikes the posturing and baseless prejudice of many pureblood magic-folk. In fact, she dislikes ignorance of all kinds as it applies to the way people judge others. Her overriding interest at this point is, of course, the game of Quidditch.
