Question: Do we all know the rules of the game?
Response: It would be rude not to!

About Avada Kedavra

1. Avada Kedavra is a freeform Pbem sim played over a Yahoogroups list. Because our intent is to explore the darker implications of Voldemorts Reign I will only allow players aged 18 + (if you are younger and you want me to consider you you're welcome to try and convince me). This is not purely because of possible adult content but because we've found that older players are more likely to stick with the game.

2. All players are free to create, develop and follow their own storylines, either singly, by tags to another player, or by writing a joint post (JP) with another player.

3. Throughout the game the GM will play a host of None Player Characters (NPC's) drawn from canon sources (i.e. The Harry Potter books) and her own warped imagination. These serve to move the game forward, to give players characters others to interact with and to let the GM create EVENTS.

4. EVENTS are major game happenings, created by the GM. All players should respond to EVENTS - even if they are Kneazle Baiting in outer Mongolia EVENTS are so newsworthy that an inhabitant of our would hear or read about them.

5. The GM might create particular situations that lead your character to make a life changing decision (to fight for good or evil, ham or cheese filling ... you know what I mean) if one of these accurs, please do not ignore it - if for some reason it will cause such serious problem with your broomstick polishing thread that you cannot accomodate it then let the GM know. SHe does not bite unless provoked.

The Setting

It is 1974 and Avada Kedavra is thus set four years into Voldemorts eleven year reign of nastiness (if you dispute my reasoning, please refer to PoA and deduce the timeline for yourself!). Our game takes place in wizarding London in the maze of streets, squares and alleyways behind the Leaky Cauldron, though we also venture Muggleside and have ranged as far afield as Hogsmeade. Hogwarts is not a major location for Avada Kedavra.

Posting

1. A post should be at least 500 words long and be written in third person prose, like a book. Don’t worry if English is not your first language, give it a go (there’s much more to life than punctuation).

2. Player characters must post at least once per week Please try to post at least once a week (real posts, not one liners) to the Yahoogroups list, several times a week would be even better. I understand that this is not always possible. If something that will take you out of the game longer term comes up let me know.

3. If a PC fails to post once per week and fails to tell the GM why they will receive an e-mail from the GM suggesting possible plots that might help their character be more active. Failure to respond to this e-mail after 5 days will result in the PC being removed from the game without further notice. There are a limited number of player character position in Avada Kedavra and it is better for everyone if those are not blocked by inactive players.

Characters

1. All player characters must be original, the GM will control NPC's from canon (though PC's are welcome to borrow them). No character may be related in any way shape or form to a canon character - the GM does not want to see the long lost daughter/sister/lover/twin/penpal of Voldemort/James/Dumbledore/Malfoy it's very boring and such a character would be laughed at and immediately disconsidered!

2. All player characters MUST be Human - no vampires, werewolves, veela, giants, nixies or anything like that at all! If you have a burning desire to become a werewolve or some such creature then it should be indicated in your application and the GM will try and find a way to make it happen at some point in the game once you have demonstrated that you can handle such a character responsibly.

3. All player characters begin the game neutral, and go about their daily business doing whatever a wizard of their chosen profession would be doing. That means no Aurors, no Dark wizards.
