BMW Car Club
Ireland Section

Welcome to this page telling a little bit of the Irish Section of the BMW Car Club GB (which won the Car Club of the Year in 2002). Of course, you can also contact me if you would like more info. There is lots more on the website linked below - as well as application details.

The Section has existed for quite some time but has only been revitalised in 2002.

Please note that the next meet is at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone on May 3rd at 12:00

The club is the only officially recognised BMW club in Ireland and UK. There are over over 120 members in the 32 counties with well over 5000 members in the UK. The club has the right to use the BMW roundel and M Power stripes in advertising, on flags, banners, regalia, etc. There is a full time club office providing administation and logistics back up.

The Irish Section has a great cross section of cars, generally from 02's and CS's from the 1970's right through to brand new models. There are a few prewar models too. We have many interesting models as well as a number of CS's, M3's, M5's, M6's, Z1's, 8 Series, 2002 Turbo's, a M Coupe and a Z8 - but it is just as much about the more down-to-earth cars.

The '02 members have put together a webpage, have a look at it by clicking here.

We have had two events in 2002 - a meeting in Athlone and an open day with concours competition at Motor Import Ltd. You can see pictures by clicking here. For next year we are planning some more events such as:

The club is informally run, whereby any member can come forward with a proposal. A team of people can be assigned then to organise the event with support from the club. This allows member to run the club as they see fit!

We have recently had a logo designed specifically for the Irish Section, these are provided to all members for their car windows. Club regalia is also available.

Carole Nash provide a group insurance scheme for the club for older vehicles. We are in negotiation with another broker for all other models - but don't hold your breathe as response from the big names has been very bad so far...

With a club card, members are entitled to discounts from companies such as Jaymic, Rossiters and Cooks. UK dealers also provide a 10% discount on parts.

The club site provides a central on-line reference for all activities (and a Forum) and a bi-monthly award winning magazine - including info on Irish event and write ups. A newsletter is sent out between magazines where necessary. Via these routes many experts are accessible for help.

Members also become part of BMW Clubs Europa (BCE), with subsequent benefits, including 20% off mobile tradition parts, organised tours of the BMW factories in Germany, discounts off hotels, travel on the continent and more. There are well over 100 BMW clubs who "belong" to BCE and everyone is welcome to attend each others events. So if there was a group who fancied a meeting with the M Power club of Deutschland, say at the Nurburgring, then this is possible to arrange.
