ON SITE/OFF SHORE HEAT EXCHANGER RETUBING |
|
Onsite,
off shore, voyage repairs or in our workshops, we can retube, overhaul
or remanufacture any type of heat exchanger. Utilizing the latest tube
removal and expansion technology. BP Engineering can promise fast turnarounds
and highly competitive pricing. All types of tube materials are catered
for, i.e. copper alloys, stainless steels, carbon steel, inconel, smo,
super duplex, titanium etc. We can work with customer supplied or supply
tube to customers specifications.

PRESSURE DYE & HYDRO TESTING |
|
Pressure
testing with admix gases and leak indicators for the ultimate in searching
capabilities in high integrity units. Standard Hydro testing.Hydro testing
with fluorescent dye inclusion with UV search capability for fast leak
detection on very large units or units with difficult to locate leak
paths.Mass spectrometry testing for known gasses.

CHEMICAL & MECHANICAL CLEANING |
|
Closed or open circuit chemical circulation for descaling, de-carbonizing etc. Used when mechanical cleaning is impractical or proving ineffective. Mechanical cleaning by flail rotators, rotating springs, hollow tube insertion core cutting ect. Useful for fully blocked tubes where chemical circulation is not possible. |

Pressure
testing of individual tubes to confirm suspected leakage. Vacuum testing
of expanded joints to confirm leakage prior to re –expansion or tube

The
majority of tube failures occur within the first few inches of the tube,
while the remainder of the tube is intact. Metal tube inserts are manufactured
from thin wall alloys expanded into position over the damaged area.
Under certain conditions they can actually re-join and seal a fractured
tube. Non-Metallic inserts are designed to be fitted to heat exchangers
after several years in service. They cover the eroded tube inlet and
prevent further erosion in that area. The internal end of the insert
is tapered to ensure a smooth transition onto the main tube thus reducing
turbulence and secondary erosion. The inlet of the non-metallic insert
is flanged to prevent it being drawn down the tube, this flange also
prevents tube sheet erosion to a certain extent by shielding.

These
can be fitted to units of ‘block type’ configuration in which individual
tubes cannot be removed due to external finning or similar conditions. The
‘Parent tube’ is thoroughly cleaned and the tube liner fitted. It is
then pressurized to obtain metal-to-metal contact with the parent tube.
The ends trimmed and expanded to the original parent tube. Although
not as efficient as
the original, it provides a highly cost effective solution without rendering a portion of the cooler/heater redundant that would be the case if a tube plugging solution were adopted. |

These
can be stripped the airside cleaned reassembled and tested. Damaged
or corroded units can be manufactured to pattern, drawing or designed
for a particular application. Alternator coolers can be fitted with
dual wall leak indicator tubes to foreworn of tube failure and prevent
costly damage to expensive rotors and stators ect.

Service,
Inspection gaskets supply/ replacement and testing. These units can
be marked, stripped plates chemically and mechanically cleaned the gaskets
cryogenically debonded, the plates are then crack tested, fitted with
new gaskets, re assembled in the fitment order and clamped into bonding
frames. The frames are then baked to a pre-determined temperature prior
to re assembly in the original holding frame. The assembled plate heat
exchanger can then be steamed internally prior to torque setting and
balanced and unbalanced testing.

Water
drilling can remove solid blockage in tubes, where mineral deposits
are a problem. This is usually carried out prior to chemical cleaning
and/ or tube liner installation.
