Bujinkan Carroll Dojo
About Us
Bujinkan Carroll Dojo is a martial arts club located in Dublin, Ireland. Students practice the Japanese martial
art commonly referred to as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
The Bujinkan is headed by the Soke of the school Masaaki Hatsumi. Bujinkan Carroll Dojo is directly affiliated
with Soke Hatsumi and is under the instruction of Shihan Dave Carroll.
Training in the Dojo
The training is generally referred to as taijutsu (body arts), and is composed of both armed and unarmed techniques.
While instruction in a large variety of weapons is given the primary focus remains on
unarmed technique. Techniques taught in the Bujinkan use balance and the mechanics of the body to manipulate one's opponent.
The modern approach to this ancient form makes it a form of self defence which is suitable for all ages and strengths, men and women.
The regular structure of tuition involves beginners and advanced members training together. This continuous learning
process allows each individual to progress at his or her own level, taking what one understands from each session.
International instructors, such as Shihan Sveneric Bogsäter (15 dan) travel to Ireland regularly. Seminars and
workshops are held on a monthly basis in association with other Bujinkan Dojo.
UCD Ninjutsu
Bujinkan Carroll Dojo holds classes for the staff and students of University College Dublin. Beginners classes for both students and
staff of UCD commence each September. For further information click here
Beginners
Beginners and new members are free to attend classes for a trial period. The structure of the training sessions permit new members
to join at any stage during the year. This process allows the beginner to receive one-to-one tuition from senior members, including
the instructor conducting the class. Basic techniques will similarly be taught on a one-to-one basis by a senior instructor.
