Our church has a thriving Sunday School with about 30 children on the register, ranging from 3 years to 13. They are catered for in 4 different classes spanning the ages and are supported by a large team of staff. These teachers take it in turns to teach the classes in order to allow everyone to participate in the church services as well as helping in the Sunday School. The children are well integrated into the life of the church and are warmly welcomed each week by the congregation. They come into the church at the end of the services to share what they have been doing throughout the morning and items of their work are then hung in a corner of the church for everyone to see.
The children are encouraged to participate in all aspects of church life including communion which they are welcome to receive if they wish to. The senior class occasionally attend the service instead of having a lesson in order to prepare them for adult life in the church.
Once a year the whole Sunday School go on an outing. This year we went to the Alice Holt Woodland Park near Farnham.
The Sunday School staff meet on a monthly basis to encourage each other and to plan special events in the calender. We recently celebrated our Sunday School anniversary in which the children led the service helped by the minister. They sang songs, wrote prayers and poems which they read out and did a sketch, all of which were well received by the congregation.
The whole church community values and appreciates the input of the children and the children feel welcomed as valued members of the congregation. We are always happy to see new faces and it would give us great pleasure to see you on a Sunday morning.
