The house has an open plan living area consisting of lounge, dining area and kitchen with wood paneling and an open-air fireplace. Double doors lead from the living space out to a wood decked garden containing a vegetable patch and, of course, chickens. There is also this time an loo and shower. There is a new swimming pool for the contestants to play in. There are two bedrooms within the Big Brother house, each with six beds, but one is more comfortable than the other. It is up to the participants to decide how to allocate these. The house also has a toilet and a shower room. There are cameras in all of the rooms which always watch the contestants. Stairs lead up to the main exit door where the contestants will be evicted from.

The
2000 House was designed to be be 24hr trendy and comfortable prison cell.
Habitat donated the sofas and Ikea donated the kitchen units. There were two
bedrooms, one for the boys and one for the girls. The house was very blue with
blue walls and blue furniture.
In the garden there was a vegetable patch designed to bring the contestants to a
back to basics lifestyle. There were also chickens and in the patch lived the
world's soon famous hen, Marjorie. There was also a patio with green plastic
furniture. And as a treat there was also a 'hot-tub' placed there midway through
the series.
The Diary Room had a padded wall and large purple chair.

After Celebrity Big Brother had ended, Colin Piggott decided that the House
needed a makeover.
The house has an open plan living area consisting of
lounge, dining area and kitchen with wood panelling and an open-air fireplace.
Double doors lead from the living space out to a wood decked garden containing a
vegetable patch and, of course, chickens. There is also this time an outdoor den
and shower.
The hot-tub has been moved from the patio to the middle of the garden and the
chicked are now where the greenhouse used to be.
There are two bedrooms within the Big Brother house, each with five beds, but
this time one of the bedrooms has an en suite bathroom attached to it. It is up
to the participants to decide how to allocate these.
The house also has a toilet and a shower room. There are cameras in all of the
rooms which always watch the contestants.

After
Big Brother 2, the famous house had to go. It's lease had expired and Channel 4
had to destroy it. It's furniture was auctioned off and the house knocked down
by October 2001.
Channel 4 then looked around for a new house. Rumours of a heaven/hell format
surfaced and with a two floored house with on floor a palace with leather sofas
and on the other floor a pig-sty with hard bare furniture.
These
rumours were squashed when the new in Elstree Studios, Herefordshire was
revealed to public in early May. There was just one house and no upstairs but
stairs did lead up to exit door.
But the house seemed to have a very distinct design with all the luxuries on one
side of the house and all the harder unappealing areas on the other side with a
diary room smack in the middle.
The heaven/hell rumours surfaced again when some photos were spotted of bars
across the house during Channel 4 dry runs at the house.
Mid-way through the first week it was confirmed. For one week later on in the
series the house would be split. It happened two weeks later and the bars didn't
come down for another four weeks.
