This short trip was taken as a package holiday from London Gatwick on a charter flight to Palma. I decided to base my trip on the north coast of the island as a number of the better birding spots are on that side. My base was a small hotel situated on the eastern outskirts of the town of Puerto Pollensa, right on the main coastal road giving easy access to some good birding.
Apart from one night when we had a particularly vicious thunderstorm, the weather was warm, sunny and pleasant in temperature.
As the northern coastal strip of the island is relatively flat, a lot of birding can be carried out either on foot or with the aid of a bicycle. However, a car was hired for a period of 3 days to allow access to some of the parts of the island that would be difficult to reach on bike.
