Welcome to Issy and Warren's Wedding Picture Page!

Warren and I were married on Sunday 26th May, 2002. We had been together 5 1/2 years but we had both been too busy in that time to get married! Warren had been over in Wyoming, USA working, I had been studying at University, then we bought a house and had no money for a wedding.....so, it took us a lot longer to get married than most! I think people never thought it would happen but here it is, in full colour, actual PROOF that we are married! We got engaged in April 2001 (after I TOLD Warren we were getting married! His response was: 'blimey!') and so we had a year to plan the wedding. We chose Kilconquhar Castle as it had everything that we wanted for our wedding. The setting was idyllic, the Castle beautiful and Bill McKinney (the wedding co-ordinator) was fantastic. Our Glaswegian minister, John MacSporran, was a hoot. We didn't want a traditional wedding as both Warren and I are far from traditionalists. John picked up on this and performed a very lively service, making us all laugh and smile. Perfect. I used the knot.com to help with my planning and to get some good tips on putting together a wedding. I bought my dress from David's Bridal in Tampa, Florida while on holiday and then men hired their dark green tail suits from Debenhams. The bridesmaids wore beautiful burgundy red dresses from Berkertex Brides with matching tiaras. I chose the flowers to compliment their dresses and mine. Warren gave me the best wedding day surprise by wearing a kilt - I had a huge smile on my face walking down that aisle! The pictures on this page were taken by friends and family and really capture the day. Note, however, that it rained for the pictures! Many of the family 'line ups' are imcomplete as family members were taking shelter in the cafe nearby. People have since told me that it's 'good luck' for it to rain on your wedding day.....

Kilconquhar Castle....a perfect setting.

Here's Warren waiting outside just before the wedding. Our minister, John MacSporran is to the left and our Piper Nicky Horn is on the right. Warren later told me it was very emotional greeting people knowing that they had travelled such a distance to be there for our special day. We had people arrive from the US, France and all over Britain.

After the Wedding Ceremony...

Here we are after the ceremony being showered with confetti.

I love this picture of the 2 Mums! Everyone had a wonderful time.

Now, it wouldn't be a wedding without all of that confetti now, would it?

And it wouldn't be Scotland without a little rain.....

Here's Warren and I outside the wee cafe next to the Castle, before the Wedding breakfast.

At 5pm we went into the Lindsay Room in the Castle for the Wedding Breakfast. We had pate to start, beautifully prepared chicken and vegetables for our main course and fruit in a brandy snap basket for dessert. We had coffee and scottish tablet afterwards while we listened to the speeches. The speeches had me in stitches! Then at 7.30pm we all headed down to the marquis which was set amoung some trees in the castle grounds for some Ceilidh Dancing. 120 guests joined us to celebrate over the course of the evening.

Here's the wedding cake! The cake was iced to match the bead work on my dress and was absolutely gorgeous. It's a shame you can't see the detail in this picture. We didn't get around to cutting the cake until the evening and by then it had been moved so many times it was like the Leaning Tower of Pisa!!! We had 4 tiers and there was an extra slab or two in the kitchens...and it all went!

Cake Cutting!

The First Dance

Ahhhhh...the first dance....we chose an ultra slushy, make-your-stomach-turn song....'From this Moment,' by Trisha Yearwood......

.........Then we got the DJ to cut the record and change it to a song that we had chosen that was more 'us' - Barry White's "My First, My Last, My Everything!" People were in stitches (including us!) and didn't waste any time in joining us on the dance floor. It wasn't your 'traditional' first dance but it was hillarious!

Then began the Ceilidh ('kaylee') which is traditional scottish dancing. We had a mix of Ceilidh and DJ. Everyone loved the Ceilidh and couldn't get on the dance floor fast enough! We served Stovies (traditional scottish dish of beef and potatoes) and warm crusty bread in the evening along with Wedding Cake....which was great as you need lots of energy to Ceilidh dance!

And here is Warren dancing with his Best Man Jon - maybe I should have been told about this BEFORE I married Warren!

The ceilidh....

And more ceilidh....

The Bride taking some time away from the Ceilidh to re-apply her lipstick!

Cheers!
