Emily was born into a musical family in Bristol, England in 1986, and began studying the clarinet at the age of 6 with her father. After studying for two years at Wells Cathedral School with Dr. Kevin Murphy, Emily gained a DFEE Government scholarship at 13 years old to enter the Purcell School of music studying with Andrew Roberts. In 2004 Emily entered the Royal College of Music with a foundation scholarship, where she now studies clarinet with Tim Lines, Eb clarinet with Peter Davis and Bass clarinet with Michael Harris.

 As an orchestral musician Emily has played principal clarinet for the London International Orchestra of Academia, Metropolitan Sinfonia, Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra and the London Schools Symphony Orchestra. She has worked with such conductors as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Roger Norrington, Vernon Handley, Benjamin Zander and Thomas Sanderling in The Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, and St Johns Smith Square. As a soloist Emily has performed in Germany, Poland, Holland, Japan and Malta as well as performing many recitals throughout the UK.

 In 2004 Emily performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in Buckingham palace with the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra, and in 2006 performed the same concerto with the Bristol Chamber Orchestra. Emily has taken masterclasses abroad with Charles Neidich, Francois Benda, Karl Heinz Steffens, Joan Enric Lluna, Phillipe Cuper and Pascal Moragues. She has given chamber music performances in the Purcell Room, Jaqueline du Pre theatre, Cliveden Gala concerts and the Royal Opera House.

In 2005 Emily was selected as one of four clarinettists in Europe to receive a full scholarship to take part in the Enceuntro de Musica Festival, Santander, Spain where she performed both Brahms clarinet sonatas and worked with members of the Berlin Philharmonic and New York Philharmonic orchestras. Emily regularly performs with her duo partner Jason Anderson; recent concert venues include the Victoria and Albert Museum, National Portrait Gallery, St Mary Abbots Church Kensington, Claremont Project Islington and performances as part of 'Les Six' festival in London.

Emily has been accepted to study privately with the clarinettist Alessandro Carbonare in Rome from June 2008. She is delighted to return to Bristol to perform Weber's Clarinet Quintet with the Bristol Chamber Orchestra.
