Welcome to Broomhill Infant
School
Broomhill is a district of
Brislington in south-east Bristol. The School, which has
been awarded the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark and the
Investors In People certification, is in the heart of the
community and has 204 children on roll. This web site
includes photographs and relevant information to give you
some idea about life in the school.
The time spent at Infant School is
extremely important to your childrens overall
development. These are the years when children first
acquire new skills, both academic and social, and are
encouraged to develop independence.
At Broomhill Infants we have an environment conducive to
learning. The school grounds include an orchard and a
pond where pupils can study nature and participate in
conservation work. Inside the building, displays of
children's work are used to provide stimulus and
resources to support teaching are evaluated and updated
regularly.
In March 1998 the School was inspected by a team from
OFSTED. The resulting report concluded that:
Broomhill Infant School is a popular school with
many strengths. These include the very good behaviour of
the pupils, the strong partnership with parents and the
community and the provision for spiritual, moral, social
and cultural development.
All the staff at Broomhill Infants recognise and value
the contribution that they can make to individual
children's overall development. Every pupil, from Nursery
to Year 2, is encouraged to achieve to the best of their
potential and success, however small, is celebrated.
Our links with community representatives and facilities
enable us to enrich the curriculum. Visits to the shops
or library help to extend investigations and skills
taught in the classroom. The school frequently hosts
theatre companies or musicians to promote topic work.
The staff work in close cooperation to ensure continuity
and progression for all pupils. Our vision statement of
Opportunity, Achievement, Knowledge is the basis of our
School Improvement Plan and how we intend to lead the
school forward through the next millennium.
