What we did in May 2004...
Cook interest Badge
This month we worked towards our Cook Interest Badge. The Brownies have looked at the Food Groups that make up a balanced diet, safety in the kitchen, how to handle sharp utensils, and kitchen hygiene.
During a meeting the Brownies made their own Muesli. Hopefully they all had a tasty breakfast the following day. One Brownie enjoyed the muesli so much she has switched to this from her normal breakfast!
The Brownies also also prepared breakfast for their families at home.
During the next meeting Brownies prepared various vegetables and displayed them in an appetising way with dips. They enjoyed trying out the different vegetables and dips. Several Brownies tried things they had not tried before. Brownies prepared carrots, peppers, celery and baby corns before trying humus, cheese and chive, and tzatziki dips.
We discussed the best way to wash up by hand and at home they cleared away and washed up after a meal.
11 Brownies have completed their Cooks Badge - Well Done

Marathon challenge
After the success last year of our Marathon Challenge the Brownies have requested we take part again this year. So this month we also raised money for Children with Leukaemia, by joining in the Marathon Challenge again.
Once again the Brownies did not run 26 miles, but they did try and walk 26 streets instead!! Their challenge this year was to name 26 streets around our meeting place.
