Welcome to the Carlton &
Senator Resource - a site dedicated to the Vauxhall Carlton and
Senator car ranges. Here you will find press reviews, Vauxhall
brochures, pictures - and over 60 seconds of video clips of
Carltons in action from TV programmes !
|
|
Unfortunately,
I no longer own a Carlton - I sold my Diplomat (right) in
'98 when I moved to London (car not required!).
|
|
 |
|
|
When I moved
again recently and needed a car, I
wasn't able to locate a good Carlton. Many have been used as taxi's
- at one time there must have been about a dozen of them hacking
around Slough! I therefore decided to go for the next best thing -
a Cavalier CDX auto. (A decent Omega was not in my price range).
|
 |
|
It's
obviously not the same thing, but coming from roughly the
same era as the Carlton it's a good, cheap substitute.

|
The
16v engine gives noticeably better
performance and economy and the 3 mode auto is smooth. It does
however lack cruise, tilt steering (airbags!) and a trip computer.
Our family has owned other Carltons though - a H reg CDX that went
on to 250,000 miles, E reg 1.8Li, L reg GLi (still got, now at
150,000) and an E reg CDi auto with every option.
Using this site
The index page is a complete list of all the resources I have at
the moment. Not all the links are working - they will be activated
as those sections are completed and uploaded. Come back regularly
to check progress!
Video
clip note: It appears that due to a limit on the amount of
downloads that Yahoo allows, this site may be temporarily
unavailable. If this happens come back later.
(If it keeps happening I will
have to remove all the videos!) |
