WHO SHE?

Charlie is a British TV presenter and Voice Artist with over two thousand hours of live TV presenting under her belt.

WHERE CAN WE WATCH HER?

Charlie appears as an host on leading, live auction channel Bid TV on channel 644. She also interviews Fund Managers for an investment banking channel.

IN THE BEGINNING....

Her broadcasting career began ten years ago.  Starting out as a runner at London TV station, United Artists Television - the first local television channel in the country, Charlie worked her socks off to impress and soon got her break as a news reporter, researching, writing and presenting her own reports.

Charlie was a natural in front of the camera, soon landing a role as studio anchor for daily magazine show UA NEWS ; reading live news bulletins, hosting debates on local issues and interviewing a variety of guests from celebrities to MP’s.

Charlie had to be multiskilled, often manning a camera or editing footage, and gained a multitude of technical and creative skills at the place she describes as “a bit like ‘Drop the Dead Donkey’ at times, but which really taught me production values.”  Before she left the channel Charlie developed, produced and presented her own entertainment show, “The Scene” which reviewed film, the arts and showcased local bands, and continued to run until the channel closed two years later.

During this time Charlie was also working for free to gain radio experience at Sutton radio station Eclipse FM , where she co-hosted a breakfast show, reading travel and weather bulletins.  This possibly led to her dislike of early mornings.  And Sutton.

Her next move was to infamous channel L!VE TV, where she line produced sports programmes “Dog Night Live” and “Mis-Match of the Day” ,  as well as “The Fashion Show”.  The latter took Charlie to New York and Paris in 1999  to cover the Spring/Summer  fashion weeks, where she battled it out with other journos and crew to get the best footage and interviews, sustaining a few injuries on the way!  Undeterred, she came home with interviews from top names in fashion, including Jean Paul-Gaultier , Vivienne Westwood and Donatella Versace , who Charlie decribes as “breathtakingly orange”.

It was during this time that Charlie lucked out at London fashion Week, with her most famous interviewee... In the middle of an interview with Bella Freud, the British designer received a visit from her friend, actor John Malkovich . Charlie turned on the charm and managed to get John to join the interview, and talk about his style. Malkovich claimed to wear nothing but suits - even when relaxing behind closed doors!

Two more years of Producing followed, with Charlie working freelance at Shopping channel QVC , producing World Wide Screen (a live daily programme dedicated to global cinema) for Trans World International , and scriptwriting and producing for Thomas Cook TV , before she was once again lured back in front of the camera at Avago.

NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE...

Throughout this time Charlie provided in-house voice overs for L!VE TV and TWI as well as commissioned work for Channel 5 , voicing promos for “In the Wild with: Julia Roberts – Wild Horsemen of Mongolia”, “Charmed” and “Driving Mum Crazy”. She was also the voice of the machine for ITV's "Lie Detector" - a twenty part gameshow series in 1999.  Her most recent voice over credit is for North American Sports Channel NASN’ s programme, “Pardon the Interruption” .

ANY SKELETONS?!

Unaccounted for in this life history are five days of the long, hot summer of 2001.  The presenter is tight lipped about these lost days, and visibly trembles when asked to confirm that she spent this time sharing army rations with 3 complete strangers, (including a Brucie Babe and an insomniac, exhibitionist Scotsman with a fondness for matches...)in a small caravan in London’s Docklands for the amusement of internet viewers.  All she’ll say is she arrived in a taxi, but left in a sports car.

AND FINALLY...

Charlie loves socialising with friends and loved ones, playing with her one year old son, walking her Border Terrier Alfie and is passionate about music, film, travel, wine, vodka, 8mm cine cameras, shopping, gadgets, scuba diving and yoga.  She’s allergic to housework, and admits to being a brooder and “a bit of a potty mouth”.   A lot of fun, but always professional to work  with, the fact that Charlie has travelled from job to job solely on recommendation for the last five years speaks for itself.
