15th July

Cheam Leisure Centre will now be closed until at least the end of August according to the SCL website - www.scl98.com.

The message below has been posted on the SCL website regarding the closure of Cheam Pool.  We will keep you updated with any developments although we DO expect the closure period to be extended..

The temporary measures will continue next week with all swimmers invited to the Wednesday St Johns Session starting at 7.00 PM and the

extra session on Tuesday nights at Westcroft beginning 9.00PM (NOT width swimmers).

CHEAM LEISURE CENTRE

Temporary Closure of the Pool Hall (only)

Following an inspection of the condition of the pool hall ceiling (23/6/05), we have decided to close this area of the centre as a precautionary measure, for the next three weeks whilst a temporary ceiling is erected.

All dry sports facilities (including changing rooms), squash courts, sports hall facilities and the Freedom Fitness centre will remain OPEN, running a normal comprehensive programme of activities.

Unfortunately the Oasis Sauna & Steam room will be closed during this period.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Rother League Round 2 completed with Cheam Ladies/Sutton Boys finishing 4th.  See news section for more details. Also Biathlon championships at White Oak

23rd June

EMERGENCY POOL CLOSURE

Cheam leisure Centre will be closed for at least the next three weeks due to structural problems with the roof. Swimming will continue on a Wednesday at St Johns & Thursday for Borough training at Westcroft.

We are trying to arrange alternative pool time with Nick Ibrahim from the council possibly at Westcroft.  However this would probably only be a couple of lanes & not the whole pool.  Therefore it is unlikely that there will be any width swimming.

We will update this site as soon as we have any further details about alternative venues or reopening of Cheam.  For further details please contact Fiona Cross.

Mike Betteridge B Gala - Croydon

In this gala we put out a team that for most of the girls was the first inter-club gala that they had swam in. A lot of the girls were extremely nervous.  But once they were in the water those nerves vanished and they remembered  nearly everything) they had been taught in training.
25 personal bests. What a display! All the girls should be proud of themselves, as all their coaches are, and I look forward to seeing them in their next gala in which I am sure they will improve even more.
Well done girls
