The most
recent major project for the Club has been the creation of a garden at the old
Chingford Hospital site, which is now an aged care home. After 2 years of
hard work by the members the garden was officially opened in June 2001.
Chingford
Association for the Physically Handicapped
For a number of years the Club has been assisting the Chingford Association for
the Physically Handicapped by transporting members to their fortnightly
meetings.
Tools for
Self Reliance
For several
of years the Club has been collecting tools for an organisation called Tools for
Self Reliance (TSR).
Our main collection point is the Recycling centre in
Kings Road Chingford. About 3 times a year the tools we collect are loaded
up and taken to a TSR depot. They are then painstakingly refurbished and
returned to working order before being shipped to Africa, where they are
distributed to local tradesmen who could not otherwise afford their own tools.
