Framed and Signed Paolo Dicanio Items
When Harry Redknapp brought this volatile Italian to Upton Park, many thought he had finally lost his marbles. Yet, what we were about to witness was one of the the greatest talents, since the days of Brooking and Devonshire, to grace the Boleyn with such dazzling skill.
Paolo returned to English football after the infamous pushing incident involving referee Paul Alcock threatened to finish his Premiership career.
That was back in September 1998 while playing for Sheffield Wednesday and the fiery Italian was just happy to have another chance with the Hammers.
A former Lazio, Ternana, Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Celtic striker, Paolo signed for the Hammers at the end of January 1999 after a four month exile from the game.
The Italian maestro enjoyed a fantastic first full season at Upton Park during the 1999/00 campaign and was crowned Opta Index Player of the Year.
Di Canio also scored one of the goals of the season with a scintillating volley in the home clash against London rivals, Wimbledon.
