Bill Trengove's N scale model of the Wharton furnaces.

Early in construction, Bill has laid the tracks for the cast house and dustcatcher. A short train poses on the trestle serving the blast furnace bunkers.

N scale is built in the ratio 1/160 so the two blast furnaces are about 2ft 3in. apart, however Bill has reduced dimensions to 80% of actual scale because of space constraints.

A torpedo (or bottle) car has been spotted adjacent to the cast house
awaiting the next cast of molten iron. Four stoves serve each blast furnace
and are linked by an elevated walkway.

The ore bridge crane is visible at the back. Steam locomotives shuffle coal hoppers of the Central of New Jersey Railroad. |
