about the sculptor

Andy Field

Andy Field was born in in London, England, and attended the University of Southampton where he attained a degree in Landscape Studies, before relocating to his new home in the beautiful county of Cornwall in the south west of England

Here he has pursued his twin loves of sculpture and local history, and has made a reputation for himself as an artist specializing in mediæval and gothic subjects, as well as inroads into popular local culture with a range of sculptures based on Cornish folklore .  He has also exhibited his more abstract works of art in galleries where his water features have been well received.

Andy is currently working on a series of exciting new projects, including a range of limited edition sculptures illustrating themes from the Holy Bible. His 1:700 scale replica Noah’s Ark sculpture will be followed by a range of equally finely crafted and well researched features based on Biblical themes, given a new slant by Andy’s keen eye for detail and insistence on accuracy.

Andy has studied archaeology and contemporary theology as well as Biblical history and has traveled in the Middle East visiting some of the sites immortalized in the Bible. He holds a fascination for the sacred History of the Holy Land as well as the subsequent story of Christianity in Europe and the Middle East, in particular the fascinating composite of art, politics and faith that was Byzantium.  He plans to visit the beautiful historic City of Istanbul, once the capital of Byzantium when it was known as Constantinople in the near future.  This is as  part of an ongoing sculpture project he is planning  for the new Year.

Andy currently lives in the quaint market town of Liskeard and continues to work out of his studio in the beautiful village of St Germans
