Since 1982 SHYAC has provided drama workshops and acting opportunities for young people. In addition to the fun and fellowship of weekly drama workshops SHYACS have done more than thirty productions raising over twelve thousand pounds for local charities. The good news is that although hundreds of youngsters have been subjected to SHYAC discipline only a handful have gone into showbusiness. We are happy to say that despite the normal ups and downs of such a career they are all established and doing well as actors, directors, producers and theatre or media technicians. Most ex-SHYACS are gainfully employed in less hazardous occupations. As self-discipline and confidence are by-products of good drama training we like to think that their time with us helped their self-respect, gave them a sense of purpose and taught them the meaning of commitment. | ||
