MMPR
- v2: The Darker Perspective
Spoilers
throughout, this is just the basic outline for my revamped PR fanfic saga, one
working from the villains’ perspective and looking closer at their lives rather
than those of the Power teens. Most of the stories that I’m writing are based
on the saga we all know and love, but just twisted to suit my desires, and many
things may be subject to change as I go along, plus I may add or take things
away at will, if I feel the need. On a side note, I’m a veteran PR fan who
started watching the show when I was 9, some ten years ago, and write now for
myself, so, therefore, I presume, I also write for my own age group - if you’re
under 12, then perhaps this version of the saga isn’t for you, but I rate every
fic I write and it’s up to you to be responsible.
The Beginning - Short intro to the PR universe, concerning the Temple of Power
and the Power Coins, as well as Zordon & Rita’s intergalactic war.
Day of the Dumpster - Workmen uncover a strange artefact in their construction
yard on Earth and release a horde of evil space aliens unto their world! It is
Rita Repulsa and her band of wicked henchmen; once contacted by their overlord,
the mysterious Emperor, they set up base on the moon and are instructed to
conquer Earth. But Zordon, having set up base on the planet to watch over the
hitherto trapped sorceress, gathers five teenagers from the US city of Angel
Grove to combat the threat. Giving them the powers of five Power Coins from the
Temple of Power, they fight off Rita’s first invasion and prove themselves a
worthy adversary in the fight against her and her master’s diabolical tyranny…
Teamwork - Goldar and King Sphinx team up against the Rangers and trap
Jason, the Red Ranger, all alone. Jason learns an important lesson about
teamwork, and he and his friends soon come together to defeat the evil
threatening their planet.
Green with Evil - Attacks on the Power Rangers are proving fruitless - Rita
turns to her master to give her more power in this fight against Zordon and his
team of freedom fighters. The Emperor decides to entrust his subject with his
Green Dragon Power Coin, and Rita goes on to cast a spell over a teenager
selected by Goldar and local to the Power Rangers, new kid Tommy Oliver - an
enemy in their own midst - so that he can become the Green Ranger and use his
powers against the Rangers’. With the help of Goldar and his partner - the
scorpion warrior, Scorpina, who has returned to Rita’s service after many years
- Rita comes as close as ever to conqueering the Power Rangers… But good wins
out in the end, and Jason break the spell under which Tommy was influenced.
Tommy proceeds to use his powers to fight for the side of Light, much to Rita’s
dismay.
The Green Candle - The Emperor is infuriated by Rita’s loss - he wants his
coin returned to him as soon as possible and vows never to entrust Rita with
anything of the likes again. Repossessing the coin is proving problematic,
however, and Rita has no choice but to use the dreaded Green Candle, her
back-up plan to be used only if all else is lost. Made of magic wax, the candle
has been connected to the power of the Green Dragon coin by the empress, and it
is lit; as it burns, Tommy’s power drains away. The Power Rangers, purposely
made privy to this plot, do all in their power to stop the candle, but they get
there too late - Tommy is forced to give his coin up to Jason so that the power
of the Red Ranger’s Tyrannosaurus coin can safeguard it against total loss.
Return of an Old Friend - Rita manages to cast one of her more
wicked spells, and sends the parents and friends of the Rangers into a Dark
Dimension. They are held at ransom for the Rangers’ Power Coins but, even once
the Rangers have given up their powers, Goldar refuses to release their parents
anyway. The Rangers, fooled by the Titanian warrior, have but one choice - they
still have the Green Dragon Coin and they call up their old friend, Tommy, to
draw upon the power once again.
Mighty Morphin Mutants - Goldar and Finster surprise their
Empress with the production of the ‘Power Coppers’, imitation Power Coins that
their [Z Rangers] can use against the Power Rangers. Sending the Z Rangers to
Earth, led by Goldar, the Rangers take on a new threat, but it’s clear that
only the true Power Coins will come out on top in the end, and the villains
soon have to retreat.
The Mutiny - The Emperor has conquered the final in a long chain of planets
in a far off galaxy - he is now free to choose his next target for invasion.
Irritated by his subject Rita Repulsa’s lack of conquests since her release, he
opts to take on this threat himself whilst his armed forces move on to other
grounds, led by the trusted warrior, Zuhhak. With a blaze of intense power, the
Emperor storms the Lunar Fort, banishes Rita, and sets himself up in power. He
goes on to crush the Dinozords of the Power Rangers, and give them a real run
for their money, until Zordon and Ninjor come through for the Rangers and forge
them each two Power Coins together, the only thing capable enough to give them
the strength to repel Zedd’s attacks. Infuriated by this, but not disheartened,
Zedd vows to destroy Zordon and his team of heroes, if it’s the last thing he
ever does…
Green Ransom - One of the universe’s most infamous bachelors, Zedd has set his
eyes on a woman for the first in a long time - but this is no ordinary woman,
this is pink ranger, Kimberly! Managing to trap the weak Green Ranger, he
refuses to give him up unless he is given the Pink Ranger, and her hand in
marriage. For the love of Tommy, Kim agrees, and hands herself over to the
Emperor. Subjected to a powerful potion, formulated by intergalactic spell
master, Loki, the Rangers have a race against time to return Kim to their side
before she is deluded forever into being the Emperor’s wife…
White Light - Zordon has decided that the time has come… Tommy is ready to
take on the Power of the White Tiger coin, a gift left to him by his enigmatic
mother, and become the White Ranger in the fight against Lord Zedd.
The Power Transfer - Jason, Zack and Trini need to be relieved of their Ranger
duties now that they must concentrate on keeping peace on another front as
Peace Ambassadors in Geneva, Sweden. But so long have they possessed their
Power Coins that the Coins will not attach themselves to someone else easily.
Just as Tommy needed a spell to allow him to use the Green Dragon Coin, the
Rangers must find a way to give the red, yellow and black ranger coins over to
three new rangers - Aisha, Rocky and Adam - without delay, so that they can
keep up their fight against Lord Zedd and keep their team of Thunder spirits
together and in harmony. They travel to the Deserted planet where an ancient
relic, the Sword of Light, promises to aid them in their quest - but Zedd has
caught whiff of their scheme; this is his perfect chance to test out his ‘Demon
of Destruction’, the gigantic mecha Serpentera, against the Rangers and their
Zords…
The Wedding - Rita Repulsa, floating through the cosmos in her dumpster, has
been picked up by Count Dregon, exile from Edenoi, as he travels through space
on his Spidership. Concocting a plan together, Dregon returns Rita to the Lunar
fortress just as Zedd has gone into his centennial hibernation - with Finster,
the ambitious witch makes up a potion to delude the Emperor into loving her, so
that she can slowly take over his powers and, eventually, his empire!
Hidden Agendas - The White Ranger and Lord Zedd are both subjected to
strange dreams, but dreams that link them together. Tommy discovers his true
heritage whilst Scorpina confronts her Emperor on the matter of his marriage,
and finds out that he does, in fact, already have an heir to his throne, and
that his eyes are far from just for Rita…
A Friend in Need - The Edenites need the help of Zordon and his Earthling
Rangers, so the Power team flies off to do battle with the wicked Count Dregon,
leaving Zedd & Rita open to attack the Earth. But Kimberly, ill with the
flu but always ready, remains behind to save the day!
Ninja Quest - Rito Revolto brings his sister and brother-in-law a present of
Tenga eggs, and helps to destroy the Rangers’ Thunder Zords. So broken are the
Rangers’ powers, and so damaged is the Command Centre, that they are forced to
go on a quest to Phaedos using the last of the Centre’s energy, to find the
Temple of Power and claim six new Power Coins.
Changing of the Zords & Sacrifice of the Crane - Kat, a new girl in town, has
arrived, but is the latest human to fall under Rita’s evil spell. Working right
under the Rangers’ noses, she works to steal Kimberly’s Power Coin, capture the
Falconzord and draw the pink ranger into Zedd’s clutches. Soon, the Rangers are
in a dire situation as Zedd now uses Kimberly in ransom against them unless
they work for him and pilot the mighty Shogun Zords, Zords long ago lost by the
wielders of the Ninja powers, and Zords that are now in his grasp. They agree,
but manage to foil his plot, and, in the process of breaking the spell over her
and saving Kimberly’s life, Katherine falls foul to a fatal blow, sacrificing
herself for the power team and the world…
Master Vile & the Metallic Armour - Rita & Rito’s father, the
infamous warlord Vile, has decided to pay a visit and make his own attempt on
conquering planet Earth. Pleased that Vile’s endeavours will allow him to
conserve his powers, Zedd continues to act in his moronic role as he continues
to concentrate on recharging his Green Dragon coin, a deed that is nearly done.
Though the Rangers are sent on a variety of ventures at Vile’s hands, and
almost allow him to get his hands on the Zeo crystal, they manage to thwart him
ultimately. Vile has another plan already up his sleeve however, one involving
a certain Orb of Doom.
The Trio of Triangles - Relationships are exploding in the
tension-filled Lunar Palace. Lord Zedd reveals his true face to Rita, then,
whilst his wife and Goldar are away, falls victim to his own temptation and
sleeps with Scorpina. Vile, back in M51, is working on his evil Orb of Doom,
but is also waiting in the wing for Dregon to make his move on Lord Zedd, who
is now vastly weakened by his recharging of the Green Power Coin. Realising
that treachery is abroad, Goldar rushes back to warn his master, but is killed
in the process, leaving Scorpina with an incredible sense of guilt hanging over
her… Though Dregon takes the Emperor hostage and flings him to die in a
barbaric arena-style battle, Zedd manages to come through and slaughters the
Edenite Count with the aid of his scorpion warrior, quashing whatever plot he
and Rita may have made. Tensions remain between the alien parties, however, as
the final battle with Zordon’s freedom fighters approaches.
Enter the Dragon - Zuhhak, general of Zedd’s army, now converges upon Earth
with his Dragon Mecha armada, having completed his last mission. With the full
force of the Emperor’s army now facing them, along with the Emperor himself
wielding the Green Dragon Coin, the Power Rangers face their toughest challenge
to date. They achieve little in the ensuing battles, forced to split up in
order to combat the threats as they emerge all over the face of the globe, and
it is Vile’s Orb of Doom that delivers the victory blow, sending them into the
chaotic Space Time Continuum, from which no one can predict where they’ll
emerge again. Vile’s final plot aims to destroy Lord Zedd - but with Scorpina
still defending him, and Zedd with the force of his wrath on his side, the Emperor
ensures that Vile’s plan backfires and the decrepit dictator is finally
destroyed. Zedd is so weak, however, that he can’t afford to stay awake to see
the planet he has conquered, so Scorpina immediately sets to work and prepares
his rejuvenation chamber for him once more. Things settled with his wife, Zedd
opts to remain with Rita and pursue his one final duty as Emperor of Nim - to
beget a legitimate heir - for the time being. He pledges to one day return to
Scorpina, and she to him, but both go their separate ways as the saga comes to
a dark close.
