Bali is not really the tropical paradise it claims to be as far as birding is concerned. I was only there for a short time so my chances to see much were limited, but I found the amount of development had impinged on what were probably green areas a couple of decades ago. In the areas of vegetation around the wood carving village of Mas there were plenty of interesting birds, including the streaked weavers, asian pied starlings and munias. At the Taman Ayun Temple outside Denpasar there were Java sparrows (no longer common) and at the much visited Tanah Lot Temple complex plenty of birds proved friendly enough to be close to the public but shy enough to not show themselves much. Quite a fun time trying to spot and identify them!
