Not a lot of people would consider Libya as a tourist destination, but there are some interesting sites to see for those of an archaeological leaning and they are home to plenty of birds as well. My trip was not for birding purposes, but it was easy to find hoopoe around the ruins of Sabratha and the Isabelline wheatears were alongside the road in the somewhat bleak countryside.
