The area around the site of Ephesus is worth an ornithological excursion. The locals farm the countryside in a wildlife-friendly manner and there are kingfishers to be seen in the irrigation channels as a result. The coast looked pretty clean and in the right season I would envisage decent sized flocks of waders, rather than the solitary Kentish plover we saw... The long-legged buzzard was seen in the hills overlooking Ephesus.
