DEATH and PLEASURE.....internet explorer only, best viewed 1024x768, frames / pop up windows. Site layouut and code is copyright © 2002 Destiny West

Welcome to the all new version of Death and Pleasure. The whole site has been revamped....(Hopefully you have noticed)..this time with a more minimalist feel and even some Flash. Why the changes? Well the reason is twofold: Firstly, I am developing another version of this site in Flash, and will unveil this after Xmas when I retun to the UK. I am currently back in Australia at the moment seeing friends, developing a movie and writing. Secondly, I have decided to restructure much of the site's content, and in order to do this I have resolved to make the interface even more reductive.

For those of you who are visiting my site for the first time, thanks for stopping by, and for you seasoned visitors; welcome back, please feel free to embrace my darkness further.

In addition to the new stories in the writings section, there are some different elements to previous versions of this site, and hopefully you will enjoy them. As always, I endeavour to update the site as often as I can (which is every day when possible...)

ABOUT THIS SITE

What actually is Death and Pleasure? Well, basically it is a platform for my works as a writer, and also serves as a window into my world.

As to the technical nitty-gritty, this updated version of the site was originated in November 2002 (The original was was created in the blur of June of 2002) using Windows 2000, Adobe Photoshop 7, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash MX. The various java scripts and DHTML goodies were leeched from the 'net and www.DHTMLshock; whilst the text and script was executed using good old traditional Microsoft Word Pad.

I originally intended to keep it a "Flash Free Zone", but have re-thought my decision. This is because I have gotten more into the programme and and what it can do. I still believe that the application is misused a lot on the web, and that it can be merely a bolster for empty sites that are: "style over content". Hopefully the new "Death and Pleasure" will not be seen as guilty of this terrible crime...

The "look" of this site is a result of being obsessed with minimalism: a reaction to all those "whistles and bells" type web presences with lots of revolving skulls and flashing lights. There are a lot of bad goth sites on the web aren't there? I always prefer a more relaxed bare-essentials aesthetic, where "less is more" and where you can actually see the wood from the trees. I have never been a big fan of colour anyway...so I'm afraid folks, you will have to bathe in my "monochromatisms" for a while until I decide to strip it all down and start again...

If you fancy having a site that looks as cool as mine, then please email me, and we can come to some arrangement.
