It is felt that the state has been
dawdling and reluctant in creating steps to protect and advance human rights,
although it has created legal frameworks to that effect. It is also seen that
the set of human rights legislations and regulations remain impotent, as mere
legal norms. Instead of taking steps to resolve human rights violations in
the past, in order to restore justice and create a new moral basis for the
reforms in the legal and political systems, the state seems to be busy with elite
disputes, as shown by the performance of the disoriented parliament. At the
same time, the government compromises with actors from the former regime,
still influential after all those years. Thus, such a condition results in
doubts on the future of the transition in the post-New Order era. With an
apathetic parliament, and compromising executive, it is hard to imagine that Sorry, but only the
