Eco-Tourism is defined as “Conservation orientated, primarily nature-based, providing a unique experience firmly grounded in sustainable principles and practices.”

At Dromard, we try to be conservation conscious and energy efficient, and to appeal to those with an interest in an environmentally friendly holiday.

Here are some of the ways we do this:

1/ WOODWARM=SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

Your heating and hot water are from a woodstove, fuelled by timber obtained by careful woodland management. This has lower carbon emissions than oil, and is sustainable. Clive has awards for farm conservation, woodland management, and has been Ulster winner of the B.G.S Countryside management Awards.

Along with managing existing woods, lots more pockets have been planted, and some unusual tree species. The Woodwarm project has been supported by the E.U. Interreg 111 A Programme for Ireland/N.I, through the Green Box, and its implementing agents, Border Action and DARD.
