Partogram
is a graphic analysis of labour based on progressive cervical dilatation
in relation to time. Nomograms of cervical dilatation of primigravidae in
labour for each centimetre of cervical dilatation from 2 cms to 9 cms on
admission, are drawn representing cervimetric progress in 800 Indian women
participating in this study. The objective of this study is to rule out
variations related to the race of the population and it is preferable to
have nomograms made from the study of this population rather than apply
information from other populations to this race as different ethnic groups
react differently to the factors influencing labour.Nomograms are inexpensive
and valuable in identifying high risk patients with dysfunctinal labour
requiring intervention or augmentation thereby reducing the incidence of
unnecessary caesarean sections and also reducing both maternal and foetal
morbidity. |
