Edinburgh Eagles Team History:
?>
Established in 1998 by Stevie Neilson (an ex Tryst 77) player, the Edinburgh Eagles Handball club has steadily grown in size and 2007-2008 has seen our highest membership levels yet.
At the beginning of the 2007 season the eagles had over 30 players (a number which has since grown) and this has enabled us to create and enter two teams into the Scottish League for the first time.
These teams are the Eagles (a more experienced team) and the S-Eagles (a development team for less experienced players). Both teams train at the same time and place however each team has its own coach and during training sessions the teams will 'break-out' to be taught skills relevant to their ability level. These teams are not rigidly set and we work closely together ensuring that everyone get training to meet their needs and as much game time as possible!
The Edinburgh Eagles has always had a mix of Scottish players and experienced international players. This has proved beneficial as the new players can learn from the more experienced players and we can share the styles and techniques of different nationalities.
The 2006-2007 season saw some fantastic success with the Eagles reaching the quarter finals of the British Cup and winning the Scottish League Cup Tournament. We have been fortunate enough to see a growing commitment and love for the game and the team within Edinburgh. Hopefully this will continue for many years to come! |
