To seek to exert a progressive influence on standards of workmanship and design in EGG DECORATION.
EGG DECORATING is a very old craft, infact it is one of the oldest crafts known to man. Most countries around the world have some tradition which involves a form of EGG DECORATING. In the modern world we often think of the work done by Peter Carl Faberge, who was a jeweller and craftsman at the turn of the century. His eggs were made out of gold, silver and other metals and rare stones. Many of his eggs were ordered by members of various royal families and famous people, his eggs are now very collectable and command many thousands of pounds, sometimes millions. In the Guild today we decorate real eggs, NOT from protected birds. Most of the eggs we use are Goose,Rhea, Emu and Ostrich, and sometimes much smaller ones like Duck, Hen and Quail. These are often cut with an electric drill.
