Midsummer celebration

A midsummer celebration is held together with the Irish Finnish Society in the fields of Kilruddery House in Bray, Co Wicklow. Norwegian, Danish and Finnish people meet in the evening for a barbecue around the fire. The evening is concluded with a bonfire on which the Danish witch is burned.

Last years' Midsummer Celebrations was held by the Irish Scandinavian Club on Saturday 23rd June 2007 at Belmont field, Kilruddery Estate, Bray , County Wicklow starting at 3pm. Irish and Scandinavians and friends gathered in the afternoon for a picnic. There was a bonfire for roast sausages and "sno/pinnbrod".

8.30 pm the witch on her broom, ready to go to Broken, is placed on Main bonfire. The party continued all through the midsummer night with a mixture of 'craig' and singing and dancing - despite the weather not cooperating!
