
A midsummer celebration is held together with the Irish
Finnish Society in the fields of Kilruddery House in Bray, Co Wicklow.
Norwegian, Danish and Finnish people meet in the evening for a barbecue around
the fire. The evening is concluded with a bonfire on which the Danish witch is
burned.
Last years' Midsummer Celebrations was held by the Irish Scandinavian Club on
Saturday 23rd June 2007 at Belmont field, Kilruddery Estate, Bray , County
Wicklow starting at 3pm. Irish and Scandinavians and friends gathered in the
afternoon for a picnic. There was a bonfire for roast sausages and "sno/pinnbrod".
8.30 pm the witch on her broom, ready to go to Broken, is placed on Main
bonfire. The party continued all through the midsummer night with a mixture of 'craig'
and singing and dancing - despite the weather not cooperating!
