About the Village Emerald |
|
The Club was officially formed during Celtic's Centenary year - 1988. The Famous Five and a good few more were already travelling by car or Billy's van, to both home and away games when it was decided to form the club. Since then the club has grown and it now has about 40 members travelling to all home matches by bus, leaving the Village from opposite the LEGENDS BAR in East Kilbride. |

The Club decided to change it's name in honour of Ian McWilliams, one of our club members, who sadly passed away in May 2004. Ian managed to do what every supporter has dreamt about i.e. pulling on the Hoops for real and playing on the hallowed turf at Celtic Park. Big Ian played for Celtic under the legendary Jock Stein between 1976 & 1977, and until the arrival of Stanislav Varga had been the tallest player ever to wear the Hoops. Ian was a tremendous character who never lost his love of Celtic, and he battled his 8 year long illness with courage and dignity, even choosing to ignore the Doctors orders when he attended the UEFA Cup Final in Seville. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by the Club. |
