08/08/02 HOLES IN THE WALL NOMINATED FOR MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE

The Electric Soft Parade's debut album, Holes In The Wall, has recently been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. The band muse surely be excited, even if its only for what Tom mentioned in a recent interview, "The thing with the Music Prize, though, is if you get nominated it's guaranteed like 30,000 more sales, and it gets your name about." This is great news for the band, congratulations are certainly in order, and hopefully, come September the 17th, they can pick up the award live on TV, although they are up against some very well-known artists. If they were to win it on they could gain a lot more press attention, as artists like Gomez and Badly Drawn Boy found when they won the prestigious award in previous years. This could only help their growing reputation.

The twelve nominated albums for the 2002 Panasonic Mercury Music Prize are:

BEVERLEY KNIGHT 'Who I Am' (Parlophone)
THE BEES 'Sunshine Hit Me' (Wall of Sound / We Love You)
THE CORAL 'The Coral' (Deltasonic)
DAVID BOWIE 'Heathen' (ISO Records / Sony)
DOVES 'The Last Broadcast' (Heavenly / EMI)
ELECTRIC SOFT PARADE 'Holes in the Wall' (db Records)
GEMMA HAYES 'Night On My Side' (Source)
GUY BARKER 'Soundtrack' (Provocateur Records)
JOANNA MACGREGOR 'Play' (Sound Circus)
MS. DYNAMITE 'A Little Deeper' (Polydor)
ROOTS MANUVA 'Run Come Save Me' (Big Dada Reocrdings)
THE STREETS 'Original Pirate Material' (670 Recordings)

08/08/02 ESP ON RADIO 1

On the 8th of July 5 songs from the bands Glastonbury set were played on Steve Lamacq's Evening Session, those being There's A Silence, Stay Where You Are, Red Balloon For Me, Mood Swing (Folk Implosion Cover) and Biting The Soles Of My Feet.
