There's A Silence - Single Of The Week
The Electric Soft Parade are enough to make you sick. The core of the band, Alex White (vocalist and drummer) and his brother Tom (drummer) are just 18 and 16 repectively, and they've grown up and live in Brighton, just about the best place to be young in the country. Most precociously of all though, they've been sending considerable ripples through the older and 'wiser' networks of those in the musical know, who struggle to work out why this works. Maybe it's because they're too young to have been caught up in the death of Britpop and are still young enough to believe that guitar-led indie tunes can still make a difference. This single again demonstrates their fresh, ballsy, age-defying sound, and is an ideal preview to their debut album, Concrete Bicycles, which is released next week.
