The club is run in a friendly atmosphere and we enjoy meeting people from different clubs, different styles of Aikido and other martial arts. Membership at Epsom and Ewell entitles you to train at no extra cost with affiliated clubs at Crawley Leisure Centre and Queen Mary's College in Bow, more details are on the links page.

The training session takes the form of a warm-up to loosen and stretch the muscles, a set of simple basic exercises to ease into the training proper a warm-down to minimise any aches and pains the next day. During the training the instructors will demonstrate and talk through the techniques then the class splits into pairs to practice the techniques. Generally beginners practice with a senior grade to accelerate the learning process although sometime the class is split up by grade so that everyone gets the best use of the practice time.

  Atemi    Projection    Hold down

As can be seen in the photographs we have good quality mats at the club which we use for training. We regularly practice defenses against multiple attackers and a variety of weapons including knives, swords, clubs and guns. Whilst we never train with real weapons we try to keep the practice as realistic as possible.

We use coloured belts running from yellow, through orange, green, blue and brown to black and the regular gradings are run either at Linton's Lane or occasionally one of the other associated clubs.
