At 11.10 am today (Saturday 19th), 2 unknown men visited a property
at Fishers Pitt, Bromley Wood, offering to sell a 'brand new' three piece
suite, which they just happened to have ...
They were driving a white Transit van reg: no Y179 EOT, and the one who
came to the door was MALE AVERAGE HEIGHT, BLUE EYES, DARK HAIR - GOOD LOOKING.
This could possibly be the same white transit van reported on Friday 18th
in and around Colton, ostensibly looking for scrap metal and batteries
(but possibly doing a Friday reconnaissance for a weekend return).
Although the registration number on the Colton sighting was different (P
350 AEL), it's not unusual for "travellers" to swap vehicles and/or number
plates to enable them to claim they were in a different place at the time
of a crime.

BURTON TOWN CENTRE AND BUSINESSES
Hello this is Simon Bullen with a message to Business Watch members.
Over the past few weeks we have seen an increase in theft large quantities of diesel fuel from vehicles in Burton, Tamworth and Lichfield.
In the last incident 800 litres of diesel has been stolen from 2 HGV's at Fauld, near Burton
Businesses are asked to be particularly careful, and ensure vehicles are as secure as possible, and if possible kept in well lit area covered by cameras.
Companies using cheaper stolen diesel can afford to undercut competitors and take legitimate trade away from you.
COLTON
A message kindly passed on by coordinator Andy Chappell ...
Early this afternoon (Friday 18th Jan) ,a vehicle was seen at various
local premises in Colton suspicious circumstances. The details are as
follows: -
White Transit Van, Reg. No. P 350 AEL
DRIVER WHITE MALE, ABOUT 25 YEARS OLD, DARK COMPLEXION, STOCKY BUILD,
WEARING DARK WOOLLEN HAT
PASSENGER, WHITE MALE, ABOUT 25 YEARS OLD, SLIM BUILD, WEARING WOOLLEN
HAT
The driver asked the occupiers whether they had any scrap metal or
batteries for sale - a very high profile, criminal activity at the
moment. These incidents have already been reported to the Police.
This type of cold call is nearly always a cover for making a theft at a
later time and this Friday afternoon tour could be a reconnaissance for a
weekend return!
Any unattended premises could be vulnerable and I am particularly
concerned about the Church which is closed for repair work. NO WORK is
scheduled for the weekend so, if you see any suspicious vehicle at the
Church, or even the Village Hall, at any time - report it immediately to
the Police on 08453 30 20 10. Remember the thieves might use a
truck instead of the Transit.
Regards, Andy Chappell
