Excel Online aims to introduce you to Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. Once the basics have been mastered, you will learn how formulae can be used to make projections; enhance the look of the spreadsheet using shading and borders; finally, you will be introduced to the functions of the Chart Wizard.

Excel Online, as the title suggests, is delivered online over the Internet. Once you access the course, detailed joining instructions from your online tutor will direct you through the practical tasks. You will work through these tasks in your own time. All practice tasks will be submitted by email for marking and feedback.

Online learning content is accessed via the Internet – i.e. learning materials are accessed by the learner via a secure web site or e-mail attachment with additional material available via download from the course web site or on CD-Rom. The learner works through assignments, which when completed are submitted by the learner to a personal online tutor via e-mail. Feedback is given via e-mail or by accessing a progress database via the course web site.

Online Learning does have some disadvantages that you must take into consideration before embarking on an online course.

Another way of using the Internet for online learning is via a live Internet link – i.e. in a virtual classroom. The Online tutor and learners have simultaneous access to a secure learning environment where access to subject material, tuition and course related activities takes place in real time using software that enables application sharing, questions and answer sessions and a virtual whiteboard.

You should aim to complete this online learning course in about 5 weeks although extensions can be allowed if required however you should complete within 3 months. Each unit will be delivered via the course Web site. Practice assignments can be completed off-line.

Completed assignments will be submitted as an attachment to an email and sent to your Online Tutor. You will agree an electronic signature  with your tutor and you will be instructed to electronically sign all emails for the duration of the course to ensure authenticity.
