Damn!

at work yesterday, I found an Apple laptop that would tide me over until the mythical Powerbook G5 gets released:

Anyway, being ultra-cautious when it comes to fraud (I've heard some shockers of previous online scams) I emailed the guy a few questions, and surprise, surprise, he was ultra-evasive with his reply. That set alarm bells ringing, so I've pulled out.

Looks as though I'll need to wait a bit longer. I will check if there are any major credit card companies that cover any fraudulent transactions from online sites, but I doubt if they exist.

Hell, I'm not even prepared to underwrite that risk. Why should they?

A pledge to the big man

they say God kills a kitten every time you (ahem) pleasure yourself. If that's true, please let it be this one tonight:

Just one more thing...

here's yet more speculation about the upcoming Apple WWDC conference:

Faster Powermacs are all well and good, but what about the prospects of a Powerbook G5 - this is the baby I've been waiting for. So far, the outlook is bleak. Reports of poor G5 processor yields and design problems mean that, for this summer, its introduction is unlikely.

I've been reading the latest Powerbook rumours on the web the last few days with a fading smile. Check out this thread at MacRumors:

But while the sceptics are convinced that the pbG5 won't come out this summer, I can't help feeling that Apple have got something up their sleeve; after all, it has been a full year since the G5 processor was introduced. And with a fair size of Apple's revenue coming from notebook sales, some r&d work must have gone into portables. Eh?

So it looks as though faster Powermacs, the new Microsoft apps (Office 2004 & Virtual PC 7) and Apple's next OS, 'Tiger', will dominate the conference. But I can't help feel that Jobs will leave that one more thing to the last...

damn you, bodyclock!!!

the idea of this blog has been floating around for a while.

Typically, I've spent about 10 hours pissing about with templates, html code, etc without giving much time or space to what this blog is supposed to be about; getting those damn ideas from my head onto some medium or another. I eventually chose one of the default blog templates.

What an arsehole. Yep, that's me.

Seriously, though. That's why I've started this blog - to get me into some sort of routine, a discipline if you like. Nothing special, nothing fancy, just some much-needed exercise. Together with some physical exercise, that's my goal for this summer break.

That and writing the million-dollar kid's book, of course...
