Physical appearance:
Jacob Weissman stands at 5'7", and has light-olive skin. His face seems remarkably smooth, though there are smile lines on his eyes and at the edges of his lips. His hair, originally raven-black, has now started to thin a little, though only time will tell how bald he will end up being (if at all). Jacob favors somber earth colors, and his clothes were all of conservative cut. He always wears hiking shoes, and I mean always. "I like 'em", he says, "And the last Death-Eater who tried to steal 'em is now in a little bottle somewhere. Underground."
Background:
Herschel Weissman, Jacob's uncle, has a rapidly-growing electronics business in London, where he makes a small fortune every month selling hi-fi systems and radios, as well as upgrading and repairing them. He plans to move his business back one day to Poland where he was born, much to the derision of his father, Abraham. Their arguments tended to color Jacob's childhood, who listened to the optimism of his uncle running head on with his grandfather's practicality.
Abraham, Herschel and Jacob's father, Richieu had moved to London during the 1930s and started a gramaphone and wireless repair company. Their business flourished, and Herschel diversified and started looking into computers. Jacob was born just after the war, when business started flourishing. The constant exposure to Muggle technology made a mark on the young Jacob, who found that he was gifted in working with computers and machinery.
Jacob lived with his grandfather, ever since both his parents went missing. His grandfather still lives in London, and desperately hopes against hope that Jacob would give him a great-grandaughter (Herchel, despite turning 45 years old last March, is still not married -- and it doesn't look like he will marry any time soon. Most of Jacob's other relatives died in the progroms in Poland during the Nazi occupation).
Time at School:
Jacob is probably the only anomaly in the family -- the rest of the family are Muggles, and Jacob is the only wizard. He matured quite late, and his spellcasting potential was only discovered at the age of 17 (!). Being the oldest in a class of 11-year olds would have presented some problems, to be sure, so Jacob was accepted as the first student in Hogwart's Night School. At the same time, Jacob also took a course on Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. The commute was hell, and till this day Jacob has no idea why he did it, and why both the Ministry of Magic and the Ministry of Education let him do it.
Time after School:
Not that he's regretting it, though. His first job, a consulting job with the Ministry of Magic, had him paired up with a veteran in the wizard-muggle cooperation field, Arthur Weasley. Both men got something out of that 18-month contract -- Arthur learnt more about using technology more effectively, while Jacob got the framework of his idealogy and philosophy.
He has spent the next few years in Japan, where magic is done a little differently...
He now travels around Asia and South-East Asia, working as a consultant for such companies as Esso Malaysia and Indonesia, Matsushita Thailand and Vietnam, the Majlis Kebatinan (a Indonesian-Malaysian Cooperative for magical studies in the Malay Archipelago) and the Dragon-Phoenix Collective (a group of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese wizards). His jobs make him a decent amount, and his investments pay him off rather well.
Other Details:
Jacob is one of the very few members of a new underground movement in both wizard and Muggle worlds. Denounced as 'crystal wavers' by Muggle press and 'perverts' by several prestigous wizarding families, this movement differs from both sides of the war.
This movement doesn't see Muggles as a threat -- as some wizarding families believe -- and neither are they an endangered species to be protected at all costs nor slaves open to subjugation. Muggles, they believe, are a symbol of humanity's potential.
Muggle-kind survives without magic, and at times even thrives, they argue. Wizards hold most of the power, but it seems Muggles have a lot of the control, they continue. How else can they do so much with so little?
Experiments done all around magical laboratories have shown that when magic is judiciously combined with scientific and technological devices, something more powerful than the sum of its parts is created.
"After all," says Jacob, "What is the difference between us and the 'Muggles', other than the fact they have no magic while we do?"
