The following is the inside left cover of a 1930-31 school report. Of particular interest is one of the subject titles: "Lavori Donneschi e Manuali", roughly translated as "Womanly and Manual Labour". "Womanly" labour was studied by schoolgirls; schoolboys studies manual labour, more becoming to males in the eyes of society at the time. Whether the educational distinction between work meant for women and that carried out by men is a fascist one or not, this is a clear example of the gender roles perpetuated and instituted through the educational establishment.
