This 1939 Gioventu' Italiana del Littorio cover is clearly militaristic. It broadcasts the role that the Ministry of Education (also mentioned on the cover) wanted to assign to children in the "new" fascist Italy. The symbolism is apparent and strong: a sword and a shield, as well as the ever-present fasces.
