Fabrics and threads in all textures and colours have held a fascination for Marion since she was old enough to thread a needle. She enjoys construction and embellishment techniques but hates to be pinned down to either one in particular, and prefers to use the appropriate response which the current project suggest. Marion is on a lifetime learning curve with a series of "what if" textile experiments.
Humour also plays a great part in her work and she has produced some very
unusual pieces over the last few years:-
triffid flower with tentacles - 7 metres long.
fabric coil pot construction - 2 metres high.
a tail coat incorporating sixteen chefs hats with 2metre long tails, ending in a whale fluke.
The latest series of circuit boards reflects the years spent slaving over hot computer keyboards.
Since giving up the day job, Marion has completed a two year full time art and design course and has had time to take up the challenge of competition work.
Marion has exhibited with Force 8 on a regular basis since 2002. Is a member of the Embroiderers Guild, Chard traditional stitchers, attends Masterclass Textiles at Fareham College, and is often seen and heard with her sewing machine at the Havant Art Centre adding her own unique technique to life drawing sessions.
