Munitionswagen Modell 1816
Ammunition Wagon, 1816 Model

An ammunition wagon (caisson) of 1816 vintage, designation C/16. These vehicles had been altered (aptiert) to allow them to be used to carry ammunition for the new breechloaders. The alterations (aptirungen) were mostly to the internal layout. A report of April 1870 on the materials stored in Prussian fortresses stated that there were 455 C/16 wagons available for carrying 4-pound ammunition, and 415 for carrying 6-pound ammunition.
