Map of Eigg and Rum
Eigg and Rum are part of four distinctive islands including Canna and Muck that lie off the west coast of Scotland and south of the Isle of Skye. The islands combine a rich and fascinating Gaelic history with a wide variety of wildlife. Eigg (pronounced – Egg) comes from the Gaelic meaning ‘notch’ and was recently bought by its residents. Rum with a population of just 23 is owned by Scottish Natural Heritage and is the setting for a long term study of red deer.
