Our View

Central

Promises broken .... or plain lies?

Why vote for Rob Hearne, Leader of Labour in Corby?
Cllr Hearne publicly promised a grant to the Epiphany Day Centre for the elderly
(October 2002).

Labour councillor, Mark Pengelly heard this, as did a FreeCorby associate.
They are still waiting ..............

(Or, as one LABOUR councillor recently stated .... we support the Autumn Centre, why should we give 'effen' money to them?)

Seems they wouldn't recognize a promise if it hit them where it hurts most.

On second thoughts it would if it hit them in their private 'holiday fund' -  the 'paid by council tax payers' allowances of over £2000 each - paid whether they actually do anything or not - usually NOT)

Colin Barratt
, Chair of the Centre is standing for the Liberal Democrats
We support the Lib Dems in this ward

You have THREE votes, a second vote in favour of the conservative candidate,
Michael Rodden is also a possibility.

The third vote, why bother!!!!!!!

We challenge Cllr Hearne - did you lie?
We say - Cllr Hearne, prove us wrong?

Danesholme

THREE LIB DEMS in one ward
A clean sweep for the Lib Dems  would send a clear message to this failing council.

The Lib Dems
Chris Stanbra  -  Richard Jones
Christopher Shelley

The others?          Why????????????????

East

East Ward never had an election last time.
A good councillor is a good councillor, no matter what the party, it's more about attitude and commitment.

FreeCorby believe that present Labour Cllr Mark Pengelly has shown himself to be a good councillor - in sharp contrast to many other labour councillors

your second vote?

Try Bernard Howard of the Conservatives.
Well known business man (Howard's Transport). Financial knowledge could be an asset to a council who allow many existing councillors the choice to refuse training in financial matters - yet still allow them to vote on the very subject they know little or nothing about!

Hazelwood

What will they do without Cllr Macleod?
(probably give their ears a rest at least!!!)

Karen Parker
is the Lib Dem candidate, worth  a vote.

Who else?
Well some tactical voting may be in order.................
One Vote each - Lib Dems, Conservative

(This is the ward where, we have been informed,  the MP - in 1997 -  'lost it'
Sent home by the agent two weeks before the general election!!!
Seems someone had forgot to pick up the canvass sheets.................
Seems it was like a volcanic eruption ..............................
Poor fragile wee soul...................................  he he he he

Ourselves, we NEVER trust anyone who serves two masters............
Labour and Co-operative Party candidates will never get our vote!
Either be the Labour Party or be Co-operative Party.

Might be a ward for a low turnout i.e. REALLY LOW, REALLY  P****D OFF.

Hillside

Dominic Maguire - Liberal Democrat
Dominic Maguire - the ONLY candidate to live on  Hillside.
Dominic Maguire - a thorn in the side of all lazy (labour) politicians for many years.
Asks the questions they either refuse to, or are simply not capable of,  answering.

Could this be Labour's Eddie 'Dallas' Gordons' swan song?
Kingswood - rejected. Shire Lodge - rejected.
SOMETIMES the message just doesn't get through!!

Oh, there is a conservative here too ........ (yawn)

Interesting note - We have it on good authority that Labour suggested Brian Massie for this ward.

Oh my god!!!!  Only one councillor, so you need a good 'un!
THEY thought Brian could hack it - now THAT would have been the death of Labour in this expanding ward for the next 20 years!!!!!!!!!

LABOUR DEATH WISH OR WHAT!

Kingswood

our suggestion?

MOVE HOUSE!

With ALL the problems on this estate......................
What do Labour do?
What is Labour's solution?

They ditch the dead sheep and give you the dead parrot!!

Out with the Old (Eddie Gordon) in with the new (snigger - Brian Massie)
COME ON LABOUR - there MUST be someone better.
Laugh?  We wet ourselves!!!

For all of you in Kingswood - you have our condolences.

NOW, GET YOUR OWN BACK

You get THREE votes.

If you want to thank labour for your choice of THEIR sparkling candidates

VOTE:
Your choice - Christopher Latham - Liberal Democrat
Your choice - Suman Sood - Conservative
Your choice - Yvonne Von Bujtar - Conservative

Honestly, what lunatic gave you candidates of the quality of:
Brian 'the postman' Massie
(fit enough to walk the streets for hours delivering labour propaganda but not fit enough for a job)

Maureen 'passé vous le sick bag' Forshaw
(My John gets £28,000 from Northamptonshire Council - with my £2,000 plus from Corby Council that's over £30,000 of council tax payers money for us - nice little earner - NO WORK INVOLVED)

and

Willie 'I want to be leader' Smith
(What can we say about William that has not already been said ........  Te he)
PS.
just WHAT were Labour thinking of, were they ALL OUT TO LUNCH ?

Lloyds

FreeCorby did a clandestine straw poll of this ward.
The response?

'Why oh why is there NO LIBERAL DEMOCRAT here?'

Seems many voters are either voting Conservative in protest or simply 'bining' their ballet papers!

You don't have to stay at home - it's an ALL POSTAL VOTE!
Now, how do you open this bag of bin liners.........................?

Will this be reflected in other areas?  We await the results ..........

Lodge Park

Lodge Park - the ward the Regional Labour Party tried to fix for one candidate in 1999.
(that story will be told here on Monday - verifying the details with a friend)

Julie Connachie of the Liberal Democrats gets the vote of our friends in this area.

Chris Woolmer of the Conservatives is the second option.
Only one year as a councillor, not said much so far, SPEAK UP a bit Chris!

If you must choose a third (but why?)  try Mark Hill - along side the other Mark (Pengelly) of Labour a name to perhaps watch out for in the future. One of the few present Labour councillors not totally brain dead!!!

The other two labour 'candidates'?

Weeeeelllllll

The other two are both sponsored by the 'god fearing' Keith family (Donald and Aileen)
An odd ball pair whose judgement is v-e-r-y suspect.
Even Phil Hope MP was left bemused after a meeting attended by these two.
Supporters in chief of the gerrymandered selection process last time. (more later)
Will there be prayer meetings and cries of 'halleluJAH' if they get elected?
God help us all!!!

Rural East

WELL, just who do we have here!!!

Heggs, Stanley  of the Conservative party....................
Commonly seen looking down any hole in the road he can find - hey ET, take my picture!!!
Come ON Stan, there's more to life than the open road.

Sadly, one of the silent conservatives, SPEAK UP STAN - after all .... you ARE the opposition!

The other conservative? looks like a relative of Bernard Howard (see East ward)

Someone we don't know:
REED George Donald (Commonly Known As: Don Reed)
No party listed, not even independent!!

GO FOR IT (commonly know as ..... ) DON - Someone we'd vote for - a dark horse

Worth a vote, give Don a try, could just be the unknown to shake the usual suspects out of their collective lethargy.

The labour lot?
Well, one lives in Occupation Road, quite a way up the road from Weldon and Stanion,
The other, Epsom Walk - on the Kingswood estate!
What, couldn't even beat Brian Massie for the Kingswood nomination?
Just what ARE you doing down here?
reALLY?

(at the time of writing -  the computer music was set on random play,
the theme from the 'exorcist' started on the computer)

very apt ................. very scary .............. another Labour councillor ....... AGHHHH)

Rural North

BROMHALL Philip Charles - Liberal Democrat
Seen his name in the papers - very outspoken, if he is as good as his letters, would sure be a valuable member of the LibDem team.

Labour has John 'gladiator' Anderson - paying his dues - a 'no hope' candidate - his reward for standing, from the labour party, is being 'given' Rockingham Triangle.

Funny, we thought we owned it!!

Labour think it is in their gift. They think they OWN the town .............

SHOW 'EM DIFFERENT

Seems Labour have to EVICT our football club first though - strange situation, we have TWO labour councillors (Kane and Pengelly) involved in  taking legal action against a labour council.
JOHN, you should be above this .........

But, as a friend told a friend -  'when you fly with the crows ............ '

Thanks prospective Cllr DM (LibDem), via RR,  for the accurate analogy.
BTW, this saying should give Cllr Pengelly apoplexy, some time ago, seems DM said it TO him.
Now, he thinks he knows who FreeCorby are ........  he, he, he, he, her, he, he - 'Colombo' Pengelly, he aint!!

Perhaps 'Inspector' Pengelly should enlist the services of Cato ;-)

Oh, there is a tory here as well!

Rural West

BEECROFT Sidney George  - Liberal Democrat
Who is he?

We have NO idea!!

What, honesty from a political  (or apolitical) group?

All we can say is this:

Are you happy with the current labour council?
Voting Tory is a no no?
You have 10 Lib Dems standing in the borough.
TEN people who can make a difference.
GIVE THEM A CHANCE!
GIVE IT A GO!
AFTER ALL, WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE!!

Shire Lodge

weeeellllll

Who else could we go for?

John Wood-Cowling - Independent

'Still crazy after all these years' - (Paul Simon)

Ex-councillor. Ex-mayor. Ex-labour.

Would make life 'interesting' for the Chief Executive - and interesting for us to!
Knows a bit about the legal stuff (served on industrial tribunals, etc.) - but, perhaps, not as much as he thinks he knows :-)

For Labour, Ray Beeby (one of the aforementioned 'brain dead' - when asked, in 2002, to vote against the cuts in services - one week before the full council meeting - he replied 'what cuts? - Ray's a pleasant chap, but Forrest Gump he aint!!! - our rating? - ineffectual)

This is the ward 'Fast' Eddie Gordon thought he could skate into. Seems even his AEEU (Amicus) mate, Cllr George Crawley, couldn't swing it for him. He was told to p*** off elsewhere!

Our view? just vote for John, the others are simply a waste of ink!

West

West Ward

Just stay at home, Oh, it's a postal vote, you already are!

Of the 3 sparkling candidates who would we recommend?

Could this be the lowest turnout in the town?

West Ward, look on the bright side - at least you're not Kingswood!
(Mind you, at least they had a LibDem standing)

Labour will probably skate this - perhaps 'fast' Eddie should've tried this one :-)
(maybe he did ... we'll never know)

If we have to choose, try Ray Telfer - Independent, tainted from his past links with the ex-labour administration of Kelvin Glendenning.

'nuff said ..............  phew !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(BTW - computer on random play is now playing 'rocky mountain high', John Denver' - Mr Telfer has a mountain to climb - best of luck
BTW again - evidence is ...... mountains CAN be climbed)

The last ward ..................

The last word .................

The random computer music playing here is Neil Young. Album - On the Beach.
Lyric -  ' you're all just pissing in the wind, you don't know it, but you are ........ '

' ................. we don't know it, but we are'

Like lemmings,
Do we head off down to the coast?
Vote Labour?
Vote Tory?
Like Lemmings?

Or ................. do we vote for something better?

As we write this, the music playing here now?

'It's been a long road .......
getting from there to here ..........
it's been a long time ..................
but my time is finally near........
and I will see my dream come alive at last ............'
I will touch the sky ................................................................'
..........................and they're NOT gonna HOLD ME DOWN NO MORE ................
(Russell Watson)

We can change Corby

IF ................

we want it badly enough ...................

(do not click this link if you have a slow internet connection, like us. We got a friend with a broadband connection to upload this. It could take AGES to download.
click here for the song (MP3 format) - not sure if this will work!!! it's a great song though)
