I am Gina Prayer Guthrie.  I was born on 1st June 2003 in Singapore to mummy Wendy and daddy Scott.  Mummy is half Thai, half Scottish and daddy is Scottish through and through so I guess that makes me 3/4 Scottish and 1/4 Thai ! I am what is called a Trisomy 18 baby.  This means I have an extra chromosome 18 in all my cells.  This isn't good ! However I am very lucky as most babies with this disorder don't make it to birth and I am still here ! I have quite a few problems, I have not the normal two kidneys but 3 ! But 2 are joined together in what is called a duplex kidney which means I have to take antibiotics every day to stave off infection.  I also have some heart problems including a VSD (hole in the heart) which makes me a little tired when I feed.  When I was born I wasn't strong enough to suck my own food and it was given to me through a tube in my nose.  I didn't like that much so I have learnt to take my food from a bottle and now the tube has gone ! I was born at the National University Hospital in Singapore where mummy and daddy live (daddy works in Singapore) and all the nurses and doctors were very kind to me and helped me get well enough to go home after only a week.  I was only 1.8 kg when I was born but I'm now gaining weight every day with all the goodness from mummy's milk. In fact now at 2 months old I am over 2.5 kilos !

My mummy and daddy are Scott and Wendy.  Mummy is from Thailand and daddy is from Scotland.  I also have half brother Cameron who is five and lives in the UK with his mummy.
